Kingswood: 21 Waxwings at the Bellvue Rd locality 12.15pm today (M Hayes).
Henleaze: 11 Waxwing near the Newman Hall car park (C Craig). Yes, where we hold our evening meetings!
SEVERNSIDE:
Much lighter winds today with just 1 Kittiwake being seen. Combined shoreline totals from the main areas as follows:
45 Shelduck, 350 Wigeon, 100 Teal, 40 Oystercatcher, 200 Dunlin, single Black-tailed Godwit, 4 Bar-tailed Godwit, 40 Curlew, 50 Redshank and 2 Turnstone (J Martin, per severnsidebirds).
PORTBURY WHARF:
Bird of the day here was a Bittern flushed from the ditch along Wharf lane at 10am, it flew over and landed in the reeds at the main north pools towards the sewage farm. A new species for the reserve since the pools were created about 6 years ago.

Other sightings, 17 Canada Goose, 27 Shelduck, 75 Wigeon, 2 Cormorant, 57 Lapwing and 85 Dunlin (on the island) (combined reports, S Hale, R Hawley).
PORTISHEAD:
The male Black Redstart (first reported 2/1/11) is still present in the Sorrel gardens locality. A female type Black Redstart is also still present over at the marina on the rocky beach by the outer lock gates.

CLEVEDON COAST:
Shoreline count today was: 45 Shelduck, 180 Wigeon, 40 Teal, 18 Shoveler, 1 female Sparrowhawk, 1 female Merlin, 22 Oystercatcher, 4 Ringed Plover, 42 Grey Plover, 50+ Lapwing, 1,250 Dunlin, just 1 Snipe (heard), 60+ Curlew, 280 Redshank (180 at Yeo Bank Farm), 1 Spotted Redshank, 29 Turnstone, 100+ Black-headed Gull, only 4 Herring Gull, 15 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 4 Meadow Pipit and a Chaffinch in song (HE Rose).
BLAGDON LAKE
3 Scaup, single Little Egret and 10 Goosander (S Davies).
SOMERSET LEVELS:
Ham Wall: 2 Bittern, a Great-crested Grebe, 40 Lapwing, singles of Redwing and Treecreeper and a party of 15 Siskin (C Porter).
