Sightings 19/2/11

BRISTOL:
Bishopston: a ♀ Blackcap and 2 Brambling in the garden (Bishop Rd) today (J Budd).


Frenchay: a Ring-necked Parakeet seen and heard at Frenchay Park Rd 2pm (R&M Bulmer).


OLDBURY POWER STATION:
1 Mute Swan, 9 Shelduck, 140 Wigeon, 21 Teal, 7 Mallard, 8 Golden Plover, 125 Lapwing, single Redshank, 1 Green Woodpecker and 2 Bullfinch (combined reports, W King, per opsbirding).

SEVERNSIDE:
A Diver sp was seen off Aust Warth 7.50am, thought to be a Red-throated Diver.

Combined totals from the main shoreline sites: 41 Shelduck, 120 Wigeon, 70 Teal, 1 Gadwall, 13 Shoveler, 1♂ Pintail, 1 Peregrine, 70 Oystercatcher, 4 Ringed Plover, 6 Golden Plover, 3 Lapwing, 1,350 Dunlin, 1 Jack Snipe, 2 Snipe, 3 Bar-tailed Godwit, 100 Curlew, 130 Redshank, 103 Turnstone and 10 Rock Pipit.


Avm Sewage Works: 32 Gadwall, single Pochard and 6 Tufted Duck at the square pool (combined reports, J Martin, per severnsidebirds).

BARROW TANKS:
Just 9 Goldeneye and 6 Goosander of note (S Davies).

BLAGDON LAKE:
The 4 Scaup and 1 Smew still present. AN adult Mediterranean Gull also noted (per BL birds).

Saltford Sewage Works 18/2/11:
6 Chiffchaff around the bushes and scrub, including 2 birds showing some indications of the some of the eastern races (L Wheatland).
