Sightings 14/2/11

OLDBURY POWER STATION:
47 Shelduck, 162 Wigeon, 63 Teal, single Tufted Duck, 158 Lapwing, 75 Curlew, 20 Yellowhammer* and 10 Reed Bunting (A Middleton).

* as in January, just north of the Windbound pub.

THORNBURY:
At the garden feeders: 5 Blackcap (3♂, 2♀), 6 Siskin and 2 Bullfinch (PE Dykes).


SEVERNSIDE:
New Passage: 107 Oystercatcher of note (per severnsidebirds).

14.2.11 Canada Geese at the Severn Beach orchard pools.
The 100th species for the year according to die patch-meister.

PORTBURY WHARF:
Estuary: 200 Teal at Chapel Pill late afternoon.
Pools: 7 Mute Swan, 28 Wigeon, 8 Shoveler, 8 Pochard, 3 Little Grebe, 42 Lapwing and 6 Curlew of note (S Hale).

CHEW VALLEY LAKE:
Villice bay: a 1st winter ♂ Scaup and 45 Wigeon.
Moreton: 1 Red-breasted Merganser (R Mielcarek).


Bristol 13/2/11:
Redland: 20+ Waxwing at Lover's walk 10.40am (A Craddock)


Abbots Leigh 13/2/11:
Singles of Great Spotted Woodpecker, Goldcrest, Treecreeper, Nuthatch and Jay of note in the garden (A Rhodes).
