Chittening Warth: a Woodcock flushed from scrub near the Stup Pill section this morning (per severnsidebirds).

WESTON MOOR:
A good showing of birds here today: 2 Mute Swan, 2 Canada Goose, 3 Bar-headed Goose, 20 Teal, 3 Tufted Duck, single Little Grebe, 12 Snipe, singles of Green and Great Spotted Woodpecker, 200+ Fieldfare, 2 Treecreeper, 2 Jay, 50+ Chaffinch, 20 Goldfinch, 30 Siskin and 2 Redpoll (PG Evans).
CLEVEDON COAST:
A Stonechat on the seawall today (H Taffs). Only our 4th reported bird anywhere in Avon so far this month.
ABBOTS LEIGH:
Highlights in the garden today were, the Great Spotted Woodpecker again, a Nuthatch, 1 Jay and a Greenfinch (first here for 3 years!) (A Rhodes).
BLAGDON LAKE:
A juvenile White-fronted Goose new in at the lake today (first seen at Chew yesterday). Other reports, the 4 Scaup and the Smew still present (per BL birds)
Nailsea 14/2/11:
A Black Redstart present at the Southfield Trading Estate (M Lomax).
Backwell Lake 31/1/11:
Geoff captured this shot of the Bittern perched in one of the bank-side trees when the lake was frozen over.
