Sightings 6/3/11

Good numbers of Grey Plover reported at Clevedon and Sand Bay.


PORTISHEAD:

CLEVEDON COAST:
7 Canada Goose, 95 Shelduck, 70 Wigeon, 76 Teal, 15 Mallard, 4 Little Egret, 18 Oystercatcher, 48 Grey Plover (good count), 4 Lapwing, single Knot, 450 Dunlin, 95 Curlew, 1 Spotted Redshank, 330 Redshank (Yeo), 22 Turnstone, 120 Black-headed Gull and a few Meadow Pipit (HE Rose).

SAND BAY:
27 Grey Plover, 3 Knot and 200 Dunlin (per westonbirds).

BURNHAM-on-SEA:
A ♂ Black Redstart at St Andrews Church grounds (D Clarke).

BRIDGWATER BAY:
28 Pintail at the Stolford stretch this morning

13 Brent Goose in all off Stolford beach this morning
High tide highlights at the Wall Common to Stolford leg this morning: 13 Brent Goose, 231 Shelduck, 8 Wigeon, 2 Teal, 28 Pintail, 3 Shoveler, 33 Oystercatcher, 2 Ringed Plover, 16 Curlew, 18 Turnstone and 33 flyover Siskin to east (S Hale).

Not a white-rump in sight!

Forest of Dean 5/3/11:
Plenty of birds on show at the main sites:
Woorgreen: 4 Mandarin Duck, 16 Goosander, 3 Goshawk and 2 Snipe.
Parkend: 2 Hawfinch.
New Fancy View: 2 Goshawk, 10 Raven and a Crossbill.
Cannop ponds: 11 Mandarin Duck and a Marsh Tit (D Clarke)
