OLDBURY POWER STATION:
At the evening high tide: 5 Canada Goose, 26 Shelduck, 4 Teal, 2 Tufted Duck, 3 Oystercatcher and 117 Curlew (108 on No.3 lagoon). 2 of the colour ringed birds also noted (A Middleton).
CHEW VALLEY LAKE:
New birds today: 2 male Common Scoter and a fly-through Kittiwake.
Also reported, the adult Peregrine, the Oystercatcher (Herriott's), the 3 Scaup, 500 Sand Martin and the 1st winter Yellow-legged Gull (R Mielcarek).
CHEW VALLEY LAKE 30/3/11:
3 1st winter Scaup (Stratford), an adult Peregrine, 5 Little Gull (4 adults+ a 1st winter), a 1st winter Yellow-legged Gull (Heron's Green), 1,000 Sand Martin, 12 Swallow, single House Martin and a Nuthatch (per SH).
Our best Sand Martin count by far this month, birds no doubt brough down by the rain.
SOMERSET LEVELS:
A very early Hobby reported at Shapwick heath, Noah's lake (per SOS).
