In Avon we had a steady increase in Mediterranean Gull reports during February with at least 20+ records received. Best numbers were at the Chew gull roost and at the Portbury Dock shoreline with at least 5 birds on show at both locations.

Black-browed Albatross © John Bimson, many thanks |
Our hearts sank when we started downloading this picture from the e-mail today........what have those stinky rotters on Severnside seen now....we thought.
Then....deep joy and elation.... we realised that there was no Severn Bridge in view (plausible deniability!) and also the caption said 'Black-browed Albatross at the Drake Passage'.
Many thanks John, but please forewarn us in future....
