Sightings 30/3/11

BRISTOL:
Montpelier: 2 Blackcap and singles of Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler in the park today (D Bowring).

SEVERNSIDE: per severnsidebirds
Severn Beach: a Great-crested Grebe and a flock of 30 Kittiwakes were new today. The Grebe could be the same bird seen nearby at New Passage on 25th.

PORTBURY WHARF:
16 Shelduck, 18 Wigeon, 1 Cormorant, 6 Oystercatcher, 9 Curlew and 5 Redshank. At nearby Portishead lock gates, 3 Rock Pipit, 1 with a ring on it (R Hawley).

BRIDGWATER BAY:
Wall Common-Stolford: underwhelming for migrants this morning, just 16 Skylark, 2 Sand Martin, 3 Swallow and 10 phylloscopus warblers along the hedges. Out on the mud, 170+ Shelduck and 100+ Curlew of note (S Hale).

Gwent:
Out of area but a Whimbrel reported at Collister Pill today (opposite Clevedon/Severnside).
