Sightings 25/4/11

A much quieter day today for birds, even Portbury Wharf was struggling to find anything of interest.

BRISTOL:
Avonmouth: 12 Whimbrel and 2 Wheatear at the Holesmouth foreshore. (S Davies).

Holesmouth is the extreme southern end of Chittening Warth, south of the Mitchells Salt Rhyne and just off the Severnside patch.

MARSHFIELD:
A flyover Red Kite at 4pm (M Thomas), possibly the Chipping Sodbury bird or a new migrant.

CHIPPING SODBURY:
The female Ring Ouzel reported again on the Common this morning and a flyover Red Kite here at 2.30pm (D Pearce).

SEVERNSIDE: per severnsidebirds:

Aust Warth:  2 Whitethroat, 6 Reed Warbler, 3 Sedge Warbler and 5 House Martin, birds seen to be collecting mud for nesting.

NP-NW: the ringed Grasshopper Warbler seen again and a Whinchat nearby. Other highlights were 3 Lesser Whitethroat, 2 Wheatear and 3 Raven.

Chittening Warth: 1 Red-legged Partridge, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 3 Reed Warbler and 11 Sedge Warbler.
