Sightings 4/5/11

BRISTOL:
Avonmouth (docks): 4 Gadwall, 1 Little Egret, 4 Egret sp (distant), 2 Knot, 4 Dunlin, 104 Bar-tailed Godwit (dwindling from yesterday), 8 Whimbrel, the Greenshank still, 20 BH Gull and 350 Commic Tern (CJ Stone).

Sea Mills: 12 Swifts at Sylvan Way (S George).

Fishponds: a singing Reed Warbler at the Lodge Causeway (L Wheatland).

2 Common Tern upriver 7.20am, a Cuckoo, the Grasshopper Warbler again, 6 Lesseer Whitethroat, 15+ Whitethroat, 5 Reed Warbler and 5 Sedge warbler (per opsbirding, P Baber).

No further news of yesterday's Hoopoe.

ALMONDSBURY:
A Redstart at Over lane (Sanday garden centre) 7.15pm (RJ Emery).

SEVERNSIDE:

A much quieter day right across the patch, fast disappearing Bar-tailed Godwits and Terns and no Knot or Sanderling today, highlights were:

Severn Beach: a Great-crested Grebe, 22 Ringed Plover, 30 Dunlin, 8 Whimbrel, 1 Little Tern, 1 Common Tern, 140 Commic Tern, 2 Wheatear and 3 Yellow Wagtail.

NP-NW: just 10 Bar-tailed Godwit.

Aust: 4 Whimbrel.

FAILAND:
2 Redstart and a singing Garden Warbler at Tyntesfield 8am this morning (E Drewitt).

A Barn Owl also seen here last night 9.45pm (R Belson). The observer was on his way home from the club committee meeting so it brightened up an otherwise dull evening....

CLEVEDON COAST:
110 Shelduck, 2 Wigeon, 2 Little Egret, 12 Oystercatcher, 6 Grey Plover, 6 Lapwing, 1 Curlew Sandpiper, 90 Dunlin, a Ruff, 36 Bar-tailed Godwit, 83 Whimbrel, 12 Curlew, 4 Common Sandpiper, a Greenshank, 5 Redshank, 2 Turnstone, 4 Common Tern, 2 Raven, 125 Swallow, a Cetti's Warbler, 20 Whitethroat, a Grasshopper Warbler, 8 Wheatear, 9 Yellow Wagtail and a Lesser Redpoll (per clevedonbirds).

Stratford: an immature flyover Spoonbill seen 7am (S Davies).
